Hellenic Advertisers Association holds 6th biannual Corporate Responsibility Awards

The 2013 'Aristia' Corporate Responsibility Excellence Awards ceremony, organized by the Hellenic Advertisers Association (HAA), was held in Athens on November 12, 2013, under the auspices of the European Business Ethics Network (EBEN).

'Aristia' was instituted by the HAA in 2000, aiming at rewarding companies that have distinguished themselves on Corporate Responsibility and at further promoting Corporate Responsibility to both companies and people.

It has been successfully organized every 2 years since, with increasing companies' participation and have become a landmark for CR in Greece, attracting great interest and publicity.

Despite the unprecedented economic crisis that has altered companies' communication strategies to a large degree, or even because of it, the HAA has decided to proceed with the organization of the 6th 'Aristia' Corporate Responsibility Excellence Awards, in order to recognize companies for their programs and give Greek marketers the opportunity to find out more on the growing importance of CR to both consumers and brands.

The organization was extremely successful. 80 Corporate Responsibility programs, from 41 companies (members and non-members of the HAA) were submitted. 11 'Aristia' were awarded. The event brought together almost 500 delegates, representatives of the Greek Government, Church & Media, various NGOs and of course, the business community.

The ceremony was held at The Onassis Cultural Centre, Athens' new cultural space hosting events and actions across the whole spectrum of the arts. Keynote speaker of the event was Mr Martin Porter, Chair Edelman Europe and CIS Public Affairs Chair, General Manager Edelman Brussels. Mr Porter's speech, along with the video speeches of Mr Paul Polman, CEO Unilever, Mr Dimitris Lois, CEO Coca-Cola HBC AG and Mr Stephan Loerke, Managing Director WFA, gave a sound and concrete view on where next with corporate social responsibility and highlighted the importance of Brand Purpose and Shared Value.
