US Senate hearings voice regret at ICANN decision on internet domain names
The US Senate has held two hearings* to discuss the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) decision to increase the availability of generic top level domains (gTLDs), due to come into force on 12 January 2012.

Spanish warn against possible Antena 3 / La Sexta merger
The Spanish Advertiser Association (AEA) has warned against a possible merger between TV channels Antena 3 and La Sexta. If the merger were to take place, 85.6% of TV investments would be controlled by only two groups, a situation that that could risk resulting in a less competitive landscape as well as a loss of quality content.

SARFT imposes new TV advertising rules in China
China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has introduced new, more restrictive rules for advertising during TV drama programming, which will come into effect in 2012. The news is likely to have a major impact for advertisers in China.
