On 15 June, the Hellenic Advertisers Association (SDE) held the seventh Corporate Responsibility Excellence Awards in Athens.

The event brought together more than 300 CSR and marketing professionals, as well as academics and representatives of NGOs and civil groups to celebrate corporate responsibility.

To open the event, Yvette Cosmetatos, Chair of the Organising Committee, said: "Today we reward those who "listen" to society, who do not hesitate to take on the new roles society expects from them, who open new paths, who make their vision a reality, who innovate."

Thomas Kolster (“Mr Goodvertising”), author and expert in sustainable communication, gave a keynote presentation “The Two-Headed Purpose Monster. Putting real purpose to work” on how marketing can be a force for good and how brands’ adoption of sustainable practices is good for business and society.

The award is divided into two categories, large companies and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and around topics related to: people, culture and sports, environment, employees, enhancing employment, supporting youth entrepreneurship, client-supplier collaboration, “e-Actions”, social products and services, and innovation.

Winners included Procter & Gamble for its “Together we build your future” education and training programme for students and young job-seekers, Vodafone for its “Be Strong” initiative against cyberbullying, and local mobile operator Cosmote for its “Sea Hero Quest” mobile game for dementia research.

As part of this initiative, SDE donated to PRAKSIS, a local independent NGO, and to "The Other Man" Social Kitchen that cooks and serves free food around Athens.
