Leading companies in Turkey have signed a new set of voluntary commitments on responsible food and beverage advertising in order to support national targets around nutrition, physical activity and health. The initiative has been led by the Association of Turkish Advertisers (RVD), with three local and eight multinational companies in RVD membership agreeing to the new commitments effective as of 1 January 2018.

Turkey already had a pledge in place since 2011, but this revamped pledge is now underpinned by the EU Pledge Nutrition Criteria and publicly supported by the Ministry of Customs and Trade. The signatories are: Coca-Cola, Danone-Tikveşli, Eti Gıda, Ferrero Türkiye, Kent Gıda (Mondelez), Mars, Nestle, Pepsico Fritolay, Uludağ Erbak, Unilever and Yıldız Holding.

RVD President Ahmet Pura said: “The Turkish Pledge encompasses all food and beverage advertising in TV, print, radio, cinema and digital media, especially those targeted at children under 12. Companies may take measures beyond this Pledge in accordance with their internal policies. Social responsibility is what brings these companies together. I hope the alliance becomes a model for other companies and sectors.”
